<br />
I was playing with half square triangles earlier this past year and started sketching.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-V-CKBC5NcbM/VKwSs56WXVI/AAAAAAAAA04/G3UCZwHVzoE/s1600/IMG_0777%2B(2).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-V-CKBC5NcbM/VKwSs56WXVI/AAAAAAAAA04/G3UCZwHVzoE/s1600/IMG_0777%2B(2).JPG" height="172" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I have looked in my quilt block encyclopedia and done some online searches but haven't found this one. So maybe I came up with something new. To be quite frank I do not admit to any skill involving writing tutorials or taking photos so please be kind.<br />
<br />
Cut List:<br />
<br />
<br />
White <br />
(6) - 3.5" sq.<br />
(2) - 6" sq.<br />
<br />
Fabric A<br />
(1) - 6" sq.<br />
(1) - 4" sq.<br />
<br />
Fabric B<br />
(1) - 6" sq.<br />
(1) - 4" sq.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-duXfLIZ913s/VKwSq36MksI/AAAAAAAAA0c/Jm08D6WckNs/s1600/IMG_0740.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-duXfLIZ913s/VKwSq36MksI/AAAAAAAAA0c/Jm08D6WckNs/s1600/IMG_0740.JPG" height="235" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Instructions:<br />
<br />
Match one white 6" sq. with a 6" fabric A and fabric B right sides together. Sew a quarter inch seam all around the edge of one 6" pair. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5uDDHP7532w/VKwSrVZqptI/AAAAAAAAA0k/gofA4QXCuik/s1600/IMG_0756.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5uDDHP7532w/VKwSrVZqptI/AAAAAAAAA0k/gofA4QXCuik/s1600/IMG_0756.JPG" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Cut diagonally both directions to yield 4 half square triangles<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-1XP-igx-BcQ/VKwSsXrslvI/AAAAAAAAA1U/lg7LrTC6hfI/s1600/IMG_0768.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-1XP-igx-BcQ/VKwSsXrslvI/AAAAAAAAA1U/lg7LrTC6hfI/s1600/IMG_0768.JPG" height="300" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Press seams and trim each of the 4 half square triangles to 3.5".<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-A7_HlaeNz2Y/VKwSsqQsL0I/AAAAAAAAA08/-kURifR_aLU/s1600/IMG_0772.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-A7_HlaeNz2Y/VKwSsqQsL0I/AAAAAAAAA08/-kURifR_aLU/s1600/IMG_0772.JPG" height="286" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Match one 4" fabric square A to one 4" fabric square B right sides together. Draw a line down the center diagonally with a fabric marking pen.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-E1ZauTOoHFY/VKwSqvGMLqI/AAAAAAAAA0Y/6Srj1u8FI9I/s1600/IMG_0746.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-E1ZauTOoHFY/VKwSqvGMLqI/AAAAAAAAA0Y/6Srj1u8FI9I/s1600/IMG_0746.JPG" height="247" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Sew down the diagonal 1/4 inch on either side of the line drawn.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-eLNZwMd7FrM/VKwSq1dtSzI/AAAAAAAAA0g/Wt5HsMn9TmU/s1600/IMG_0747.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-eLNZwMd7FrM/VKwSq1dtSzI/AAAAAAAAA0g/Wt5HsMn9TmU/s1600/IMG_0747.JPG" height="222" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Cut down center drawn line to yield two half square triangles.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-zyXxxe6TG7A/VKwSr8xaI_I/AAAAAAAAA0s/euk2luT3msE/s1600/IMG_0761.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-zyXxxe6TG7A/VKwSr8xaI_I/AAAAAAAAA0s/euk2luT3msE/s1600/IMG_0761.JPG" height="205" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Press and trim these also to 3.5 inches. Layout your butterfly as shown:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-kRI42zajXqA/VKwYoHSMa5I/AAAAAAAAA1o/KOk-k4KdIec/s1600/IMG_0775.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-kRI42zajXqA/VKwYoHSMa5I/AAAAAAAAA1o/KOk-k4KdIec/s1600/IMG_0775.JPG" height="295" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
Sew rows together. Press one row to one direction and the next row in the opposite direction for the ease of matching seams. Enjoy!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-96i7pGONX9Q/VK1GMtsFh0I/AAAAAAAAA14/uR1xh_W_Uds/s1600/IMG_0776.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-96i7pGONX9Q/VK1GMtsFh0I/AAAAAAAAA14/uR1xh_W_Uds/s1600/IMG_0776.JPG" height="304" width="320" /></a></div>

Something which I actually find super challenging. I just do not excel at taking pictures or posting at regular intervals. Maybe it will be my new goal this next January. In my absence, I have finished some of my UFO's and made progress on a couple of really huge projects!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-oxhMtnXHgW0/U--h-kecFTI/AAAAAAAAAys/TfreOMt25Fo/s1600/IMG_9398.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-oxhMtnXHgW0/U--h-kecFTI/AAAAAAAAAys/TfreOMt25Fo/s1600/IMG_9398.JPG" height="320" width="213" /></a></div>
<br />
My Farmer's Wife with a Solstice Star in the middle of it! It is 100% done and being enjoyed in my house. In fact my daughter was horrified that one of her siblings was laying under on the couch the other day. I told her my quilts are made to be used and enjoyed. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-rzljVvSeB-c/U--lSQorndI/AAAAAAAAAzI/Gb0x8JDFm1g/s1600/IMG_8481-001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-rzljVvSeB-c/U--lSQorndI/AAAAAAAAAzI/Gb0x8JDFm1g/s1600/IMG_8481-001.JPG" height="210" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Finally, got my grandmother's Dresden Plate Quilt finished! She is enjoying having it on her bed and watching movies under in on the couch in the winter.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-DzcsafAvXXI/U--lvLKz1AI/AAAAAAAAAzQ/N39JpViYMag/s1600/IMG_9545.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-DzcsafAvXXI/U--lvLKz1AI/AAAAAAAAAzQ/N39JpViYMag/s1600/IMG_9545.JPG" height="320" width="269" /></a></div>
<br />
This was a lap sized quilt I made. It was originally going to be a charity quilt but my girls have claimed it to play and picnic on. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-8fQosJ6vkK8/U--h-umdIfI/AAAAAAAAAyo/Ahb60R71mxs/s1600/IMG_9544.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-8fQosJ6vkK8/U--h-umdIfI/AAAAAAAAAyo/Ahb60R71mxs/s1600/IMG_9544.JPG" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Moda Bakeshop put up the Dancing Daisies pattern awhile back. I had this one pinned and decided to give it a go. I love it! The top is finished and next up with be quilting it. I am finally taking time to slow down and enjoy the process. It does not matter how long it takes me to finish a project as long as I get it done.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-sA6psHBbQzM/U--iCg0XOjI/AAAAAAAAAy8/OyCRhWxVhOc/s1600/IMG_9565.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-sA6psHBbQzM/U--iCg0XOjI/AAAAAAAAAy8/OyCRhWxVhOc/s1600/IMG_9565.JPG" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Okay so these are not quilts...but I had so much fun making them for my girls and with my girls. I thought starting a new school they needed something special. We actually made a lot more than this! They have enough ribbons to wear a different one every day for at least 2 months.<br />
<br />
So that is just a little of what I have been up to. I hope to post more soon! Happy crafting!Kadybughttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00686731066664766847noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7476305120169909583.post-32778588081225942612014-01-18T11:01:00.003-08:002014-01-18T11:02:51.879-08:00Sneak Peek at my Sewing Space and Other Projects My friend Carrie, has wanted me to share my new sewing space for awhile now. So I finally got my pendents all sewn and hung. I also made some decorations for one of the walls.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-TQvBfLZ7f4A/UtrKU2fubzI/AAAAAAAAAxQ/HJaO7XM3qNs/s1600/1-IMG_8466.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-TQvBfLZ7f4A/UtrKU2fubzI/AAAAAAAAAxQ/HJaO7XM3qNs/s1600/1-IMG_8466.JPG" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
The close up of the decor I made:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-E20Gp_t7u4U/UtrKVAao5wI/AAAAAAAAAxc/SX7hCS9U89Y/s1600/1-IMG_8399.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-E20Gp_t7u4U/UtrKVAao5wI/AAAAAAAAAxc/SX7hCS9U89Y/s1600/1-IMG_8399.JPG" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
What do you think? I am thinking of painting my sewing table. It was around a 25 dollar purchase from a thrift store! My parents found it and then made a new cutout to fit around my machine! I also want to get a brand new chair...or paint and recover the one I have.<br />
<br />
Another awesome thriftstore find of my Grandma's was this little rocker minus the trim and cushions. She gave it to me to fix up for my daughter! I added the trim with staple and glue guns. I then sewed new covers for the rocker. I think the bottom pad that came with it isn't substantial enough so I might make a thicker one...but that will require finding more of that print. So we shall see. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-MmeDOtPYhPM/UtrMKUVyThI/AAAAAAAAAxk/HQPt7t6iEL8/s1600/1-IMG_8448.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-MmeDOtPYhPM/UtrMKUVyThI/AAAAAAAAAxk/HQPt7t6iEL8/s1600/1-IMG_8448.JPG" height="320" width="213" /></a></div>
<br />
Here are a few other things I have been doing this week:<br />
<br />
Braiding hair! This is the first major success I have had at anything remotely complex. I am more of a basic three part braid....anything beyond that or adding hair and I am all thumbs. I sat down with an idea and it finally worked. Down it hung nicely and naturally over her shoulder. She wanted it up though.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-zimMHJiec2I/UtrNG5zazHI/AAAAAAAAAyI/DG_jyx1RLog/s1600/1-IMG_8432.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-zimMHJiec2I/UtrNG5zazHI/AAAAAAAAAyI/DG_jyx1RLog/s1600/1-IMG_8432.JPG" height="306" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-WExxTgqnb98/UtrNGcNzTeI/AAAAAAAAAyA/hyZd_iAg_5s/s1600/1-IMG_8428.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-WExxTgqnb98/UtrNGcNzTeI/AAAAAAAAAyA/hyZd_iAg_5s/s1600/1-IMG_8428.JPG" height="294" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I found the cutest chalkboard stickers at a craft store in town along with liquid chalk Aren't these fun looking now? I really want to get jars and do it in my craft room too.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-AuRJruPe2DE/UtrNFl6EVjI/AAAAAAAAAxs/x8wSVoyxFkc/s1600/1-IMG_8398.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-AuRJruPe2DE/UtrNFl6EVjI/AAAAAAAAAxs/x8wSVoyxFkc/s1600/1-IMG_8398.JPG" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I have also been cooking and trying things on pinterest. I found an awesome pizza corona and decided to make one. So simple and awesome! Next I think I would like to try making the Braided Nutella Bread. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-DyIgz9IKA3s/UtrNF_lcGKI/AAAAAAAAAxw/NUY3tG5T66M/s1600/1-IMG_8380.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-DyIgz9IKA3s/UtrNF_lcGKI/AAAAAAAAAxw/NUY3tG5T66M/s1600/1-IMG_8380.JPG" height="265" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I did get my dresden plate quilt 100% top stitched and the top part of the binding sewn on! So all I am doing now is hand stitching and then will get back to quilting more. I refuse to touch any other quilt until it is finished.<br />
<br />
Happy Crafting! <br />

We had so much fun we ended up staying up until midnight! Although I only got four cards made that night. I have found I am not very quick at making cards. With a few more sessions I ended up with a total of 14. Here are a few of the ones I made:<br />
<br />
1. Deck the halls - I am new to using rhinestones. I kinda avoid them. I think they are perfect on trees!<br />

I am hoping that putting in all the effort to make them will light a fire under me to get them in the mail. I am working on addressing them now. Cross your fingers I make it to the post. So, do you make your own cards or buy them?Kadybughttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00686731066664766847noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7476305120169909583.post-7025766894164250542013-11-11T07:49:00.001-08:002013-11-11T07:49:05.585-08:00<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

It has been a bit chaotic. We made a major move to a brand new state! We are finally all settling into a new routine and are getting our new house more together. I finished this lovely Gypsy toddler/lap quilt amid the unpacking chaos and finally dropped it in the mail. I had promised a friend of mine I would make one for the organization she runs - "Kylie's Hope". I hope in the future that I will be able to send her a few more. I am getting closer to finishing two more quilts and hope to post those in another week or two. I might also be able to post pictures of my sewing room soon! I cannot believe I finally have a sewing room! As you can see we still have snow here. This quilt makes me feel like it is really and truly spring. Kadybughttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00686731066664766847noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7476305120169909583.post-30427829240096529962013-04-19T11:38:00.001-07:002013-04-19T11:39:11.592-07:00Tutorial - Repairing a Board Book BindingI have been spending a lot of time spring cleaning lately. As I looked over my son's board book shelf I found a few that had been chewed on. It made me a little sad and I was tempted to toss them...but I hate to toss anything that well loved. Some of these books have made it through 3 children already. I finally got the idea to try and repair them. What did I have to lose, right?<br />
<br />
Here is what you need:<br />
<br />
Heavy Cardstock (I got mine at Micheal's)<br />
Scrapbook Paper<br />
Scissors<br />
Gluestick<br />
Packing Tape<br />
Pencil (Optional)<br />
Fine Sharpie Marker<br />
White Craft Paint and Fine Paintbrush (Optional)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-NsnjgFeYfkk/UXGD2kJJKmI/AAAAAAAAArE/1dwUV8ovrtw/s1600/IMG_6563.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="255" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-NsnjgFeYfkk/UXGD2kJJKmI/AAAAAAAAArE/1dwUV8ovrtw/s320/IMG_6563.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
1. Pick up your board book with the destroyed or missing binding. Mine was partially destroyed and so I had to begin by cutting off the remaining binding. You will also notice that the back cover was had to use my glue stick to tack it down again.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-B_6FMmnGNXM/UXGD6cXIKYI/AAAAAAAAAsw/XW1j-Ig6jtM/s1600/IMG_6570.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-B_6FMmnGNXM/UXGD6cXIKYI/AAAAAAAAAsw/XW1j-Ig6jtM/s320/IMG_6570.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-gDhRRLHC1x8/UXGD7MawaGI/AAAAAAAAAsA/s9Q5EV1w9Fs/s1600/IMG_6571.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="272" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-gDhRRLHC1x8/UXGD7MawaGI/AAAAAAAAAsA/s9Q5EV1w9Fs/s320/IMG_6571.JPG" width="320" />o </a></div>
<br />
Your book should look like this<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-grNnz5gJiEo/UXGD7pTMnBI/AAAAAAAAArw/ebYLZjOg_38/s1600/IMG_6573.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-grNnz5gJiEo/UXGD7pTMnBI/AAAAAAAAArw/ebYLZjOg_38/s320/IMG_6573.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
2. Now we will take our book and put it spine down on our cardstock. Trace around the base of the spine with a pencil (my daughter was being my hand model since I have trouble taking pictures and doing the modeling). <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-okZdGXVy-nU/UXGD8GbxHDI/AAAAAAAAAr0/riho-cBypOI/s1600/IMG_6575.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-okZdGXVy-nU/UXGD8GbxHDI/AAAAAAAAAr0/riho-cBypOI/s320/IMG_6575.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Cut out your rectangle. Now here is where you want to double check the fit. I like to put the cutout on my board book spine and feel to make sure it isn't hanging over. I trim the spots were it does. You could probably also sand it down. <br />
<br />
3. Put your scrapbook paper face down and put place your cardboard cutout on top of that. I like to leave about 1/2 an inch border all the way around the cardboard. Glue the cardboard to the paper. I now make an "L" shaped cut out or corner cuts at the top and bottom.Fold the paper down onto the cardboard and glue down. This will give your book spine a more finished look! <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-dWZJ7McPr10/UXGD8-ZxbfI/AAAAAAAAAsI/jF_u5OSKIy0/s1600/IMG_6576.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-dWZJ7McPr10/UXGD8-ZxbfI/AAAAAAAAAsI/jF_u5OSKIy0/s320/IMG_6576.JPG" width="255" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-03kWaTuvicA/UXGD9LjV57I/AAAAAAAAAsM/KU3-bWpCA5U/s1600/IMG_6579.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="235" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-03kWaTuvicA/UXGD9LjV57I/AAAAAAAAAsM/KU3-bWpCA5U/s320/IMG_6579.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Now fold your paper up on the sides leaving the two sides sticking up. You actually have two options here. You can fold the paper sides onto the cardboard and simply affix with a little to your spine. Or you can place the paper side onto your book and glue down. I will show you what each looks like.<br />
<br />
Here it is folded in onto the cardboard. I add a thin boarder of paint next to it to clean up any exposed edges.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-8b4WIsL4F5I/UXGD9iyipKI/AAAAAAAAAsY/kEbFEXS-9_Y/s1600/IMG_6586.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-8b4WIsL4F5I/UXGD9iyipKI/AAAAAAAAAsY/kEbFEXS-9_Y/s320/IMG_6586.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Here is the paper coming down onto the book for a little extra clean up I added a white paint border. The white paint border is actually unnecessary here, I added it for continuity since the front had a thin white border. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5FYRBNXqGIg/UXGD9jexuFI/AAAAAAAAAsc/b-DhZlC_L-Y/s1600/IMG_6583.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="242" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5FYRBNXqGIg/UXGD9jexuFI/AAAAAAAAAsc/b-DhZlC_L-Y/s320/IMG_6583.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
4. You might have noticed this is also where I add my title. I wrote mine on in pencil and then traced over them to make sure I centered them. You could just go for it, stamp one, print it off on your computer, or use scrapbooking letters.<br />
<br />
5. Use a long piece of packing tape to cover the whole length of binding. You might want it a bit longer. I slowly push it down on both sides to prevent creasing or bubbles. I then use my craft scissors to cut off the excess tape. I like the tape because it protects the paper and gives a little waterproofing against my little teether. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-o_vjTgEnT90/UXGD-h8J5fI/AAAAAAAAAso/piHxijfHYbM/s1600/IMG_6588.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="298" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-o_vjTgEnT90/UXGD-h8J5fI/AAAAAAAAAso/piHxijfHYbM/s320/IMG_6588.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Here you are, they even fit in decently on the bookshelf. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-SRf-2wNAULA/UXGD-yGycNI/AAAAAAAAAss/Z8YKIRlKFHo/s1600/IMG_6598.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-SRf-2wNAULA/UXGD-yGycNI/AAAAAAAAAss/Z8YKIRlKFHo/s320/IMG_6598.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>

I am throwing a party for my kiddos and some of their friends. In between getting games ready and hanging decorations I have been working away on my Farmer's Wife quilt. I decided to match it with the solstice Stars. I pieced the top but am not sure it is finished. I am thinking of appliqueing some hearts in the corners of the white. What do you think?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_yEY2TIKkuI/URsok-vvrII/AAAAAAAAAqY/hOGfM7WrSGA/s1600/IMG_5524.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="281" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_yEY2TIKkuI/URsok-vvrII/AAAAAAAAAqY/hOGfM7WrSGA/s320/IMG_5524.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I also found a saw a tutorial on pinterest for hand stitching ribbon roses onto fabric. After that an idea started forming in my head. I took a piece of burlap I had and drew a heart on it in pencil. I then started sewing roses inside the heart. I started interspersing some store bought craft roses into the heart for some different dimensions. I am a little over halfway there and please with how it is turning out!<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Here is a little closer to what it will look like finished. I planed to hot glue the leaves on.</div>

<br />
I know! So many projects and I still need to get some things finished up. My friend Carrie has made a plan to come over to sew every two weeks. It it great fun and allows me dedicated time to work on projects and use up my fabric. Last time we tried to use a bunch of my scraps. When we were done it didn't look like we had even dented my scrap drawer. ;) We came up with some great scrappy blankets with help from my kiddos. I can't wait to share them with you. Make sure you visit Carrie's website http://www.believemagic.com/journal/ She is currently doing a giveaway for two awesome prizes!<br />

It will be beautiful. Instead of letting you have a peek at the chosen layout I will instead share with you the cupcakes I made up:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-m-d9PNfo3I0/UQ3mX3rmhEI/AAAAAAAAAqA/X8VsCA9Dt-M/s1600/205814_10151668499409447_1144982450_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-m-d9PNfo3I0/UQ3mX3rmhEI/AAAAAAAAAqA/X8VsCA9Dt-M/s320/205814_10151668499409447_1144982450_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I adore cupcakes! I really should have taken photos of the second batch I made and decorated. Hope you are having a sweet weekend.Kadybughttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00686731066664766847noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7476305120169909583.post-56779419362052534752013-01-21T13:34:00.001-08:002013-01-21T13:34:37.390-08:00Monday MondayI am struggling to find time to keep up with my blog and to finish projects. I am working on this. I will continue to share as I finish...it will just be a very crazy year for my family. I have two pretty stacks of fabric I will not touch until I finish several of my UFO's. I must finish so I can play!<br />
<br />
First up for Christmas my husband I made this quilt for our youngest daughter:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-1YTplF8qnoU/UP2sjyWrtaI/AAAAAAAAAno/RmFoXZ8oy-4/s1600/IMG_5360.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-1YTplF8qnoU/UP2sjyWrtaI/AAAAAAAAAno/RmFoXZ8oy-4/s320/IMG_5360.JPG" width="184" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-KWK6chckqU4/UP2skG3r8UI/AAAAAAAAAns/-moW2BYWlgA/s1600/IMG_5373.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-KWK6chckqU4/UP2skG3r8UI/AAAAAAAAAns/-moW2BYWlgA/s320/IMG_5373.JPG" width="213" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hJCyRMSVAlo/UP2sj8SWKsI/AAAAAAAAAnw/-3sAyqo3Jj8/s1600/IMG_5375.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hJCyRMSVAlo/UP2sj8SWKsI/AAAAAAAAAnw/-3sAyqo3Jj8/s320/IMG_5375.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
We did a disappearing Nine Patch with Riley Blake's "Apple of my Eye" fabrics.<br />
<br />
I have made really good progress on the "Every Which Way" Quilt. This was the quilt I flew solo on for Christmas. It is a Gigi's Quilt pattern. It is supposed too be a much smaller quilt and I altered the design just a tiny bit to allow it to be twin sized (omitting two strips and 2 small squares from each block). It should be finished for my oldest son soon. Here is a peak at it pre-top stitching (which I am free-motion stitching currently). It insane for me to be free motion quilting a twin quilt on a regular sewing machine! I do not think it is something I will do in the future. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ci7nJwBVMPY/UP2tYOSKvPI/AAAAAAAAAoE/XrXr5zKTWYQ/s1600/IMG_4966.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ci7nJwBVMPY/UP2tYOSKvPI/AAAAAAAAAoE/XrXr5zKTWYQ/s1600/IMG_4966.JPG" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The third quilt my husband has been working solo on and is really proud of. I picked the pattern and fabrics and he took it and ran. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-cTHODqx5VDg/UP2uzXFKF6I/AAAAAAAAAoo/IQS03sBwHT0/s1600/102_7829.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="313" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-cTHODqx5VDg/UP2uzXFKF6I/AAAAAAAAAoo/IQS03sBwHT0/s320/102_7829.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
It is the Swoon pattern with Gypsy Girl Fabrics for my oldest daughter. I am not sure how long it will take my husband to complete or if he will ask for my help. He has made 3 blocks thus far. <br />
<br />
I made up a little pillow for my niece who is going to Major in English in college. I used Fresh Lemon Quilts <a href="http://www.freshlemonsquilts.com/?p=2265">Autumn Star Tutorial</a>. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-82KaBWDHA5Q/UP2xXneViNI/AAAAAAAAApI/5v6ZBkTs9KY/s1600/408362_10151654344149447_1108407783_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="289" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-82KaBWDHA5Q/UP2xXneViNI/AAAAAAAAApI/5v6ZBkTs9KY/s320/408362_10151654344149447_1108407783_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Which isn't much. I think I have mentioned that. My baby doesn't sleep well. Nap time and bed time are both hard. Here is a peek at a few things I did in October and the beginning of November<br />
.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ZgcTGKSS6mk/UKF-ZSfqC3I/AAAAAAAAAmE/D9TlGC6QGSI/s1600/21467_10151496757099447_1900946702_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ZgcTGKSS6mk/UKF-ZSfqC3I/AAAAAAAAAmE/D9TlGC6QGSI/s320/21467_10151496757099447_1900946702_n.jpg" width="200" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I actually managed to decorate for Halloween! This is a first for me. I need more dimensions or levels on the mantel but I was using what I had on hand and not buying anything new. We always dress up, pass our candy, and carve pumpkins. I just have never really decorated. Thank goodness for free printables. Next year I plan to make a small quilt to hang and a wreath for our door. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Xy9IJ1F2Nno/UKF-Z4CL_SI/AAAAAAAAAmM/wlG2IRBVXyE/s1600/536348_10151520818899447_91656894_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Xy9IJ1F2Nno/UKF-Z4CL_SI/AAAAAAAAAmM/wlG2IRBVXyE/s320/536348_10151520818899447_91656894_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I got this idea to make miniature (cupcake size) apple pies! They were so fun! I am making these again for Thanksgiving. I used a cupcake liner flattened out on the crust to figure out what size to cut the crust to before putting them in the cupcake pan.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-FOf987kDRuQ/UKF-Y7EikxI/AAAAAAAAAl8/FCwV7NLUY7I/s1600/18614_10151508229919447_2032860502_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="176" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-FOf987kDRuQ/UKF-Y7EikxI/AAAAAAAAAl8/FCwV7NLUY7I/s320/18614_10151508229919447_2032860502_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I made some pin toppers for myself! I saw this craft on Pinterest and had to try it out. I had never worked with polymer clay before. I even made a mustache and lip set. No pictures yet, but they are cute!!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-YNxGDT9Jvp8/UKGAJbGW_zI/AAAAAAAAAmU/prqrYwOyOwU/s1600/IMG_4673.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="281" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-YNxGDT9Jvp8/UKGAJbGW_zI/AAAAAAAAAmU/prqrYwOyOwU/s320/IMG_4673.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I have managed to make 7 blocks to contribute to our local modern quilt guilds "Film Noir" challenge. These are 12 1/2 inch blocks in black, white, and grey, with pops of color.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-mJN1NdW2or8/UKGAJ7iyG7I/AAAAAAAAAmc/ak49ByU8U-s/s1600/IMG_4674.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="187" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-mJN1NdW2or8/UKGAJ7iyG7I/AAAAAAAAAmc/ak49ByU8U-s/s320/IMG_4674.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I have a stack of arrows ready to be made into a quilt for my oldest son for Christmas. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-46mgJsQSl9s/UKGALFRac5I/AAAAAAAAAmk/sMYVLN9XDRU/s1600/IMG_4675.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-46mgJsQSl9s/UKGALFRac5I/AAAAAAAAAmk/sMYVLN9XDRU/s320/IMG_4675.JPG" width="298" /></a></div>
<br />
I also have a large stack of nine patches sewn together and cut up for my youngest daughter's quilt. Those are just a small sample of what is in stacks and piles. I feel like I never have any time or that I can't get anything done, but I make the most of what time I do have. I hope your holiday crafting is going smoothly.Kadybughttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00686731066664766847noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7476305120169909583.post-69427055044273689752012-09-26T13:41:00.000-07:002012-09-26T13:43:22.254-07:00Little Quilts<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
So my stitching is a little crooked. :) But I still love my little doll quilt I whipped up for my youngest girl. I made it from a free pattern offered over at: http://nanacompany.typepad.com/nanacompany/2012/04/a-free-sweet-dreams-little-one-pdf-pattern-.html<br />
We are doing homemade Christmas again this year and I have started with this project. I love that the Fat Quarter shop now carries the little 2 inch pre-cuts! <br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Happily, I finally managed to get this selection of fabric squares off of my cutting board and made into a little baby quilt/playmat or just a happy wall hanging. I have yet to decide. I am still also debating on what to back and bind it with. I call it my Square Chalk Box. Quilting should be done by Friday as long as my littlest is agreeable. :) I love my little Cheerio eating monkey. He captivates me so much of my time an I am more than happy to give him loads of my attention. They grow so fast! What takes you away from quilting? </div>

<br />
Look at my new "Love" canvas! I won it from Carrie over at <a href="http://www.believemagic.com/journal/">Believe Magic</a>. She is truly the sweetest most cheerful person I have ever met! My canvas has found a home on my desk. It really makes me happy to look at. <br />
<br />
I have been struggling to catch up/finish projects and to take photos of everything...I am lacking a little in the photo department. Far more progress without photo documentation. At least there is progress! The good news is I am all caught up in the Half Square Triangle Quilt Along over at <a href="http://www.incolororder.com/p/block-of-month.html">In Color Order</a>!<br />
<br />
August Block of the month<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
September Block of the month<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qdjV7dRQhwU/UFDIMoqjcEI/AAAAAAAAAkE/pHS5fPy4A6k/s1600/correctBOM.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="310" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qdjV7dRQhwU/UFDIMoqjcEI/AAAAAAAAAkE/pHS5fPy4A6k/s320/correctBOM.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
The first time I made this one I made a mistake! Can you spot the difference?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-3-WkBrTu3w0/UFDITk-v09I/AAAAAAAAAkM/2McDbtGigJE/s1600/septBOM.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="311" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-3-WkBrTu3w0/UFDITk-v09I/AAAAAAAAAkM/2McDbtGigJE/s320/septBOM.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I really hate when that happens!!<br />
<br />
There has also been progress on the Apple of My Eye Quilt (where I am lacking the photos) and the my bee blocks from the modern quilt guild. I am waiting on a few more blocks before I lay I share it. But it is looking pretty fun! I need to get more stuff done. I have a few quilt deadlines coming up. Babies are due to be born and will need little quilts to welcome them into the world. :) Hope you are enjoying the beginning of fall!Kadybughttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00686731066664766847noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7476305120169909583.post-51104830266304512692012-08-30T19:30:00.002-07:002012-08-30T19:31:41.433-07:00Two Posts in One Day!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
2 Posts in 1 day! I think that deserves a double rainbow picture I took about a week ago. The reason for the second post...I just had to share that I finished my purse today! Wahoo. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-yWstb6K2-nw/UEAggzog3KI/AAAAAAAAAiY/9fnk-BWsDHM/s1600/purse1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-yWstb6K2-nw/UEAggzog3KI/AAAAAAAAAiY/9fnk-BWsDHM/s320/purse1.jpg" width="213" /></a></div>
<br />
I am not sure what I will do with it. It isn't really my style but hey I made a purse and it is cute. Does anyone else make things without an idea of how to use it. My husband sarcastically told me to put lipstick, a wallet, etc inside it. Thanks honey, but it doesn't match anything I own. Ah well.Kadybughttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00686731066664766847noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7476305120169909583.post-7076382520822268242012-08-30T15:22:00.003-07:002012-08-30T15:22:54.573-07:00Late August - Catching Up Slowly<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
Admittedly, it has been awhile. I have been working on things but very VERY slowly. July I took a vacation from my projects to start on a quilt for my niece who was visiting. It uses the Riley Blake Apple of My Eye collection. I just love it! I was teaching my niece how to cut, piece, and quilt. I will be able to show off pictures of our project soon. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
I finished sewing the binding on my garden fence quilt the other night and am happy to say it is 100% finished now. It will be headed off to my nephew soon.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-gazbDu75tBo/UD-r-VMmD_I/AAAAAAAAAhg/ekFw1m7YPoQ/s1600/GardenFenceQuilt.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="193" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-gazbDu75tBo/UD-r-VMmD_I/AAAAAAAAAhg/ekFw1m7YPoQ/s320/GardenFenceQuilt.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I have continued to work on my Half Square Triangles for the Block of the Month thing over at In Color Order. Below is July and August will be up soon.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-4YWIAp0axCk/UD-sGFAr_fI/AAAAAAAAAhs/zfWAK5m1dTE/s1600/HSTBOMJuly.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="299" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-4YWIAp0axCk/UD-sGFAr_fI/AAAAAAAAAhs/zfWAK5m1dTE/s320/HSTBOMJuly.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I got together with Carrie from Believe Magic and stitched our quilt guilds charity quilt. I managed to contribute 3 blocks! Yay! She is super fast at sewing and so patient with me. *Carrie took the picture of the photo below*<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-cKJh24nd_DM/UD-ufCN5baI/AAAAAAAAAh0/p4-A9MOHpF0/s1600/DSC04763.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="242" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-cKJh24nd_DM/UD-ufCN5baI/AAAAAAAAAh0/p4-A9MOHpF0/s320/DSC04763.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Last but not least. Our modern quilt guild has decided to do some Bee Blocks. My month was this one and I chose a half-square triangle block that was featured on SewMamaSew awhile back (with a few modifications). Here is one of the blocks I made.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LNlw-iopT0A/UD-ryD25ElI/AAAAAAAAAhY/BRHS7vqqAe8/s1600/Beeblock1HST.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="292" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LNlw-iopT0A/UD-ryD25ElI/AAAAAAAAAhY/BRHS7vqqAe8/s320/Beeblock1HST.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I am keeping this one all to myself. I have yet to make myself a quilt and decided it is about time. I can't wait to see all of the other blocks. I have been having fun finding all of my favorite fabrics and scraps for these blocks. I hope you all are finding time to fit in sewing. Will share more soon.<br />
<br />
<br />Kadybughttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00686731066664766847noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7476305120169909583.post-88529899620673028422012-07-02T12:00:00.001-07:002012-07-02T12:00:49.470-07:00Monday MondayThis past weekend I got several fun "I Spy" fabrics in the mail and one Alexander Henry Print from my LQS. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ALT8qYpSiq0/T_HsWavmWTI/AAAAAAAAAgA/VVFB91dtNLI/s1600/IMG_3125.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ALT8qYpSiq0/T_HsWavmWTI/AAAAAAAAAgA/VVFB91dtNLI/s320/IMG_3125.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-2NBAfhw_XIs/T_Hshw83TsI/AAAAAAAAAgM/cMaGJWtmvhI/s1600/IMG_3128.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-2NBAfhw_XIs/T_Hshw83TsI/AAAAAAAAAgM/cMaGJWtmvhI/s320/IMG_3128.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I have already started cutting my charms. I only have to cut up 4 of these (I have a double spot). I bought extra fabrics since it is hard for me to tell the size of prints online. I just adore the Alexander Henry print with the happy farm items. I might have to go back and buy even more just to back a quilt for my little boy. <br />
<br />
I made some progress on my purse. I got the pleats stitched down, the interior and exterior sewn together and now I just need to add my bias tape.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-rSP4ZKmI8HA/T_HuvoJHsRI/AAAAAAAAAgU/XhEx5T75s9A/s1600/IMG_3131.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-rSP4ZKmI8HA/T_HuvoJHsRI/AAAAAAAAAgU/XhEx5T75s9A/s320/IMG_3131.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
I am making the bias tape purse from Prudent Baby. It is so easy I might have to make a few. I also got quite a bit of my binding hand-stitched on the garden fence quilt. I also transferred my embroidery on to the fabric for the elephant dreams quilt. Progress is always good. <br />Kadybughttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00686731066664766847noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7476305120169909583.post-29703586619776615032012-06-23T21:19:00.000-07:002012-06-23T21:19:08.471-07:00Saturday Night UpdateI finally dropped off 3 quilts to the local chapter of the Red Cross. I felt so shy and awkward about it. I don't really have a lot of confidence when it comes to my quilts (I feel like an amateur compared to others) and I kinda like anonymity. Truth be told, I haven't been sewing too much lately. What I did manage though:<br />
<br />
I cut out pieces from some old Art Gallery Fabric to make a purse as well as some farmer's wife blocks. I got binding put on the top of my garden fence quilt (picture was taken pre-quilting and binding):<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-iVuM2I0A9L8/T-aOIdyci7I/AAAAAAAAAfc/zSo2y-oB82M/s1600/garden+fence.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-iVuM2I0A9L8/T-aOIdyci7I/AAAAAAAAAfc/zSo2y-oB82M/s320/garden+fence.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
Now I am on to hand stitching the back on.<br />
<br />
I did a little work on my "Elephant Dreams" quilt. Here is an old photo which includes the little drawing I came up for it:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-JCJazCI1cgY/T-aQVYlOiTI/AAAAAAAAAfs/2lLic91a9ns/s1600/elephant+dreams.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-JCJazCI1cgY/T-aQVYlOiTI/AAAAAAAAAfs/2lLic91a9ns/s320/elephant+dreams.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-GIUytWQUq3s/T-aQWS-ooqI/AAAAAAAAAf0/6eHJXKuP3n0/s1600/elephant+sketch.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-GIUytWQUq3s/T-aQWS-ooqI/AAAAAAAAAf0/6eHJXKuP3n0/s320/elephant+sketch.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I plan to hand embroider him on this next week (fingers crossed).<br />
<br />
I also made a block for Kilah and got it mailed off. I have a little girl who is about her age so this story really
devastated me. 3 year olds are just so fantastically full of life and
overflowing with personality. I pray that her little spirit recovers as
well as her body. Quilts are so medicinal that I think this special
one being made with so much love for her will help boost her spirit and
bring a little comfort. If you haven't heard about Kilah's story and the quilt project you can find out more about it here:<br />

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!<br />

My son took a nap that wasn't on me. So while he was napping I caught up on my Half Square Triangle Block of the month Quilt Along blocks.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Ts6jgdC9dZ8/T861eJJyH3I/AAAAAAAAAeg/bswRB77EKZA/s1600/JuneBOM.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="175" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Ts6jgdC9dZ8/T861eJJyH3I/AAAAAAAAAeg/bswRB77EKZA/s200/JuneBOM.jpg" width="200" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-pLCimAhvAS8/T861p_9XKtI/AAAAAAAAAes/2dyb0_iwLLM/s1600/MayBOM.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="178" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-pLCimAhvAS8/T861p_9XKtI/AAAAAAAAAes/2dyb0_iwLLM/s200/MayBOM.jpg" width="200" /></a></div>
<br />
Whew! But I also got the top-stitching all done on this quilt:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-RmDZ2EsCXoo/T863F6mn-sI/AAAAAAAAAe8/ruFmgOKaFBk/s1600/IMG_2596.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="133" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-RmDZ2EsCXoo/T863F6mn-sI/AAAAAAAAAe8/ruFmgOKaFBk/s200/IMG_2596.JPG" width="200" /></a></div>
<br />
So if I can get it bound, it will be another finish for 2012! Thank you Mr. Squishy bottom!<br />
<br />

Here he is doing tummy time yesterday! He is so tall - 98 % for his age! What have you been up to?Kadybughttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00686731066664766847noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7476305120169909583.post-66542162180729326652012-05-29T11:38:00.002-07:002012-05-29T11:41:19.295-07:00One, Two, Tie Your Shoe Model - TutorialBefore I get down to this I will be honest with you. I have a new camera and do not know how to use it. I am definitely not a photographer. So my photos are not always the best. :( I am also very new to writing tutorials. But, if you can bear with me I will show you what I made for my daughter recently and how I made it.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-0z-n6hR6-N4/T8UOC9a8XwI/AAAAAAAAAd4/jegOofkdYks/s1600/step0.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-0z-n6hR6-N4/T8UOC9a8XwI/AAAAAAAAAd4/jegOofkdYks/s320/step0.jpg" width="145" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
My little girl has hit that preschool age where she needs to learn to tie her shoes. So instead of having a shoe sitting on my table that has been trudging through the garden, I decided to make her one. <br />
<h3 style="font-weight: normal;">
<b><i> </i></b></h3>
<h3 style="font-weight: normal;">
<b><i>Materials:</i></b></h3>
- adult shoe<br />
- 3 pieces of 12" x 12" cardstock<br />
- hole Punch<br />
- scissors<br />
- Shoe Lace<br />
- Gluestick<br />
- Double Sided Fusible Webbing (I use Steam A Seam 2)<br />
- About 1/8 of a Yard of Fabric (depends on shoe size)<br />
- Knife<br />
- Single fold bias tape<br />
- Glue Gun<br />
- Puffy Paint (optional)<br />
<h3>
<i><b> </b></i></h3>
<h3>
<i><b>Instructions:</b></i></h3>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-5Iep5q18Fcw/T8UKI1ITSeI/AAAAAAAAAco/kMXdoUBJXfA/s1600/Step1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="135" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-5Iep5q18Fcw/T8UKI1ITSeI/AAAAAAAAAco/kMXdoUBJXfA/s320/Step1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
1. Trace your shoe on to the card stock. Cut out shoe outline and use this first one as a template for the other 4. Once you have your 5 shoes cut out, set one aside (this one is your backing).<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-3VA5fLswcfM/T8UK4teyMLI/AAAAAAAAAcw/PDY5kxGImjo/s1600/Step2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="155" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-3VA5fLswcfM/T8UK4teyMLI/AAAAAAAAAcw/PDY5kxGImjo/s320/Step2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
2. Take one of your shoe cutouts and draw little circles evenly spaced down both sides of your shoe top (I pre-draw to make it a little easier to figure out spacing). Next, use the hole punch to cut them out. It is okay to bend or fold the cutout to make the holes (you can see in the photo I had to). Use this first one as a template to repeat the process on the other 3 shoe outlines. Now glue your outlines together. Do not worry about them matching up perfectly, this will be hidden.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-oyJRfPi2Th8/T8ULSC7q8PI/AAAAAAAAAc4/dnaBZydRtV0/s1600/step3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-oyJRfPi2Th8/T8ULSC7q8PI/AAAAAAAAAc4/dnaBZydRtV0/s320/step3.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
3. Place your fusible webbing on top of your shoe outlines and then your fabric on top of that. Trim to fit the shoe outline and press with an iron.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-FEuhx-fnPtM/T8ULXuYwkhI/AAAAAAAAAdA/2Cja3G_RJKU/s1600/step4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="140" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-FEuhx-fnPtM/T8ULXuYwkhI/AAAAAAAAAdA/2Cja3G_RJKU/s320/step4.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Yours will look like this.<br />
<br />
4. Flip over your shoe to the side without the fabric and use a sharp knife to cut an "X" through the holes into the fabric. Thread your laces through the holes. I like to make sure mine lay as flat as possible on the underside.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-T_Y73WmpRt8/T8ULwtwfcBI/AAAAAAAAAdQ/dJvZI9I9E_I/s1600/step6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-T_Y73WmpRt8/T8ULwtwfcBI/AAAAAAAAAdQ/dJvZI9I9E_I/s320/step6.jpg" width="213" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
5. Now glue the shoe outline you set aside to the back of the shoe over the laces. Turn over again so you can see the top of the shoe.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-yWIPhAmqdbQ/T8UL6_La4LI/AAAAAAAAAdY/lYnaTCr6vSs/s1600/step7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="145" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-yWIPhAmqdbQ/T8UL6_La4LI/AAAAAAAAAdY/lYnaTCr6vSs/s320/step7.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
6. Use a glue gun to add the single fold bias tape to the top of your shoe first and then the back. If you go slow and do about an inch at a time you can get it to lay nicer.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-VJiBoVLNVnE/T8UMMX1EzRI/AAAAAAAAAdo/61QCK2PXiuQ/s1600/step9.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="147" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-VJiBoVLNVnE/T8UMMX1EzRI/AAAAAAAAAdo/61QCK2PXiuQ/s320/step9.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
7. (Optional Step) On the back of your shoe, use puffy paint to create fun designs or tread like you find on the bottom of real shoes. <br />
<br />
I hope you will be able to use this tutorial to create some cute practice shoes for your children!<br />

I promise I haven't forgotten. I did the random generator thing and have my numbers for each of the giveaways. However, after searching for an easy way to apply numbers to my comments and failing at a few attempts...well I am doing it by hand. I will have the results for you all soon. Thank you for your patience. Too bad my computer guy husband isn't home to get it done in a minute. :( <br />
<br />
The good news is that I have 2 tutorials I will be posting this weekend! So if you like feel free to drop by again. <br />

I am so excited! Below are 3 giveaways you can enter. The giveaways are open until the 25th. Winners will be selected May 27th. Good luck.<br />
<br />
This weekend I took a little time to try a few things. I set up a fun envelope challenge for our quilt guild which included these colors:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-FW0aaNFtLeU/T7qFh3kMmRI/AAAAAAAAAbg/umpPW9QfP38/s1600/IMG_1655.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="154" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-FW0aaNFtLeU/T7qFh3kMmRI/AAAAAAAAAbg/umpPW9QfP38/s320/IMG_1655.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Our guild members have until July to complete the challenge - which could be either creating a 12 1/2" block inspired by these colors or else just making something fun for themselves with them. I started sketching up some ideas this past week and came up with around 10 different blocks. I fell in love with one of them and sat down to try it out. I didn't measure or get too fussy, I just went for it. What do you think?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-r8T7YWq29rU/T7qGrVumfLI/AAAAAAAAAbo/m_SEQT0CT6Q/s1600/improv.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-r8T7YWq29rU/T7qGrVumfLI/AAAAAAAAAbo/m_SEQT0CT6Q/s320/improv.jpg" width="275" /></a></div>
I adore it! It reminds me of: gummy worms, car trips, and summer! It just makes me happy. It doesn't meet the guidelines for the guild challenge with the baby blue incorporated. I think I am going to make a few more of these squares and create at least a lap quilt out of these. <br />
<br />
The other thing I tried this weekend was ladybug nails!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-eqpATwJWe34/T7qIVF9yfmI/AAAAAAAAAbw/k5z8HC_Zv4I/s1600/IMG_2080.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-eqpATwJWe34/T7qIVF9yfmI/AAAAAAAAAbw/k5z8HC_Zv4I/s320/IMG_2080.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
My daughter's were thrilled! I found the tutorial here:<br />
http://brandyscrafts.blogspot.com/2012/05/ladybug-nails.html<br />
I don't paint nails very often so I definitely need more practice but, oh the possibilities!! <br />
